The Brackenrigg Inn, on the A592 in Watermillock, is a refurbished 18th-century coaching inn with a sun-trap terrace looking out over Ullswater to the fells beyond. Expect hearty, locally sourced pub food — steak and ale pie, fish and chips, Sunday roasts — local ales, and a warm, dog-friendly welcome.
Another Place, The Lake, also in Watermillock, is a design-led lakeside hotel with the Rampsbeck Restaurant, an all-day café and lake-view dining. Non-residents are welcome to book for dinner, and the hotel also runs wild swimming and paddleboard sessions from its jetty.
